Paul and I intentionally designed a firm that would ultimately be our succession plan. My legacy is a wealth management firm built to serve families and their generations.

Legacy Family Office was carefully planned and crafted from inception. We focused on a niche. We built the firm around a strong set of values and mentorship culture. We carefully recruited a diverse, multi-generational team and carefully crafted our client experience. We built a company to serve the needs of our clients today and in the future. We built a legacy.

Legacy is my third financial career – I have been a partner in a CA firm, a CFO and a Wealth Advisor and all have been in the arena of family business. Each has leveraged the same expertise and all have offered complex challenges and demanded confidentiality. These experiences have set me up to serve our clients well in the role of the financial confidant. I listen well, untangle the complexities, and help our clients effectively navigate the emotions, intricacies and complexities of family, business and wealth.

My thirty-years as a Chief Financial Officer, partner in a chartered accounting firm and advisor to family businesses, gives me a unique crossover skill set between personal and business finance in both the financial planning and tax worlds. Working as the CFO with a team that has tripled sales in a family business, I blend my experience with financial principles to create a solid, tax-efficient business structure that benefits both the family’s financial picture and the bottom line of the family business. I also help our clients prepare their businesses for eventual hand-off to family successors or outside purchasers.

An unexpected role that emerged as my career progressed has been that of a mentor. I am genuinely committed to helping the Legacy team evolve in their career paths and grow as individuals. The diversity of our team – the personalities, talents, cultures and passions – makes it even more exciting to help them develop their expertise and achieve their dreams.

I strongly believe in giving-back and to community services. I am proud to be the president of SurreyCares, as well as having the experience of co-founder and past chairperson of the award-winning Southridge School. When not in the office or volunteering, with a passion for travel and food, my wife and I plan holidays where we immerse ourselves in the culture and learn to cook the local foods. We also took up ballroom dancing a few years ago… and it’s hard! For someone who is used to planning his every move, learning to dance has been a process of learning to let go and just be in the moment.
