I have always loved numbers, they have always made sense to me. Numbers are accurate, specific, there can be no grey areas, they just make sense.

My analytical mind put me onto the path of training to become a Chartered Professional Accountant. I made this decision after working in the investment industry for many years and realizing that I love the concept of using numbers to help clients make wise decisions. While assisting a financial planner for a few years, I saw firsthand how important good information is to the clients’ planning process and successful outcomes. I always aim to provide as much detail as possible for our clients, to ensure that they have a clear picture of their finances. Working with the Legacy Family office team, who is client-first focussed, led me to realize that I enjoy working with clients as much as numbers.

My experience as an investment processor developed my attention to detail – one digit can make all the difference. Working within a financial plan is a bit like adjusting levers, you can work with the numbers in many ways, each number is a different lever, and you can adjust them until you find the solution that works best for the client.

You might come across my Chinese name: Chia-Min, as all my credentials are issued in this name. Jacqueline is the English name I chose when I moved with my family to Canada from Taiwan when I was a teenager. My parents and brother moved back when my siblings and I graduated from high-school. My sister and I stayed in Canada because we fell in love with Vancouver’s beauty, but we try to return to Taiwan every couple of years to visit our family. When I’m not spending time with my sister, I’m usually reading – about numbers.
